  • The Central Venous Catheter (CVC) goes in the chest. It makes it possible to start dialysis right away.

  • CVCs are temporary for most people. ➀

  • It takes a lot of work to keep a CVC clean. ➀

  • CVCs become infected more often than other dialysis ports. ➁

  • People with a CVC spend 27 more days in the hospital per year than people with other dialysis ports. ➂

  • Check with a doctor or dialysis team to see if a different dialysis port is the right choice.
